LATEST CONDITIONS IN HONG KONG

In light of the latest social distancing and travel restrictions in Hong Kong due to the COVID Pandemic, it has been decided that the 19th Vis East Moot will completely take place virtually. Any and all peripheral activities such as the Opening Ceremony, Announcements, Closing Ceremony, and related official social and professional networking events, will take place virtually.

The Vis East Administration will send out a schedule of virtual events in advance of the commencement of the Opening Ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, 27 March 2022. The schedule of events will also be updated on the Vis East Website on the Calendar section under the “Latest News” page.

The Vis East is excited to welcome back eBram, who provided the online platform for the 17th Vis East (1st VVE). eBram will host all virtual hearings using the Zoom platform.

    Training Sessions

    In order to ensure that our participants are familiar with the eBram platform and the relevant parameters for the Virtual Hearings, both eBram and the Vis East administration will host the following training sessions for teams and arbitrators. Both training sessions will be recorded and the recording will be made available online for those who are unable to attend the live session. Please note that while we recognize all of your busy schedules, the benefit of attending live sessions is having the opportunity to ask questions to both eBram and the Vis East administration during the trainings rather than having to email such questions.

    The Moot Alumni Association is delighted to announce that it has established a platform to put in touch with one another: teams who are in need of coaches with professionals who are eager to support the next-generation of practitioners.

    Please send an email to [email protected] indicating your interest in being coached by a professional or acting as a coach for schools in need.

    Interested teams should include in their email the full name of the university, number of team members, number of current coaches and a contact email.

    Interested coaches should include their names and contact email.

    Any such information sent to the MAA will be published on our website. By sending the MAA your email request, you consent to the contents of your email being published on the MAA website and circulated by the MAA for this particular purpose.

    Kindly note that the MAA is not involved in any part of the remote coaching process other than making it known interested teams and individuals.

    The Moot Alumni Association (“MAA“) is delighted to bring to your attention the relaunch of the MAA’s longstanding Award on Academic Excellence and Party Condition (Digital Version), also known as the Dr. Joseph Schwartz Award.

    One of the unique and dynamic experiences during each Vis Moot season is the ability to engage and to interact with teams, professionals and other individuals from across the globe. The ability to do this has changed in the past couple of years, but this year the MAA hopes to encourage students a new way to engage in this critical part of the Vis Moot experience.

    The Moot Alumni Association is proud to present: The Dr. Joseph Schwartz Award (Digital Edition)

    Who can Participate: Teams competing in the Vis or Vis East Moots. (One competition for each location)

    What is this Award about: A social competition encouraging teams to schedule calls with other teams in the competition and to host cultural events to foster a virtual sense of community during the Moot.

    When will the determination for the Award take place: From now until 14 April 2022 (the last day of the Vienna Vis Moot).

    How to submit your team for the Award:  By providing documentation (usually screenshots) of the calls and pursuant to the 2022 Schwartz Award Rules.  Submissions will be submitted pursuant to a link to be provided by the MAA.
